Tesla Fest East

  • NCCAR 310 Technology Drive Garysburg, NC, 27831 United States (map)

What was originally planned as our October track day is turning into so much more!  A multi-day gathering for all Tesla enthusiasts around the Out of Spec Motoring Racetrack.  Not only will this event be for Tesla owners looking to explore pushing their cars on the track, this will also be an event for all Tesla owners to gather to enjoy good food, live music, see products from vendors first hand, and hang out over a weekend.  The event is family friendly, so pack up the kids, we’ll have plenty of activities to keep them entertained!

The event is going to be an outdoor festival for Tesla owners.  We will have many charging points, food trucks, live music, and activities for you to do with tons of other Tesla owners!  Camp in your car or grab a hotel, whichever floats your boat, we have options for all accommodations.

We expect most attendees to come from Florida to Maine, but if you’re coming from farther we’ll have a prize for the farthest distance travelled to Tesla Fest East!

If you’re interested in track time, great!  You can purchase a track pass which includes admission for the driver, allowing you track time during one of our four sessions offered throughout the experience.  See below for more information on what to expect during your track time.

We look forward to seeing everyone during Tesla Fest East!

Video summarizing what the last Tesla Track Day was like

Schedule for Tesla Fest East:

Friday 5:00PM - Festivities Start! Check in at North Carolina Center for Automotive Research and receive your welcome gift. Plan dinner with friends and get settled into your accommodations whether it be camping with your Tesla or a nearby hotel. Lodging information will come soon. We will have live music Friday night at NCCAR so come and enjoy some snacks, great conversation, and food!

Saturday + Sunday - Two track sessions per day with roughly 10-20 cars each will run. Hot laps will happen throughout the event for those interested in riding around the track but not driving their car. Vendors will be stationed throughout the property displaying their products. We will launch a list of activities and events running throughout the days in the coming weeks. Expect a fun party Saturday night.

Sunday 5:00pm - Time to go home! The last track session comes off track and it’s time to pack up and head back to reality.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN TRACK SESSIONS:

Beginners: For many Tesla owners this will be a first time track experience.  We will start each section with a safety discussion that will also go over the track layout.  After our safety meeting we will conduct a parade lap around the track so you can learn the entry / exit points.  Our goal is to make this an easy, fun, and safe experience.  Each group will have at least a 15 minute run time every hour for 4 hours so you will have plenty of opportunity to build up your speed and confidence over the four sessions.  A track day isn’t racing, it’s purpose is to build your confidence behind the wheel in dynamic driving situations as well as to test yourself and your car.

Charging: We recommend everyone complete a near full charge at the Rocky Mount Supercharger if coming from the south or South Hill Supercharger if coming from the north / north west. The track has many NEMA 14-50s for us to charge on so please bring your mobile connector to charge with.  Your car on track will consume a significantly higher amount of energy than street driving (well over 1,000Wh/mi) so plan accordingly.

The Track / Amenities: NCCAR is a 2 mile long 40 foot wide road course with ½ mile straightaway, 11 constant radius corners, large grassy run-off shoulders and minimal barriers.  Our groups will be running the track in the clockwise direction. There will be a shaded seating area track side so you can watch the action comfortably if you’re not driving.

Preparing your car and yourself:  It is necessary to ensure your car is in top working order before ripping up the track.  Make sure your tires have plenty of tread left and that none of the tires have been repaired with plugs or patches as those can fail during a high heat / high stress event.  In addition, check your brake pads (have at least 50% pad material left).  There are many shops that will do a once over check on your car before a track day to make sure it’s good to go. We are also requiring a helmet for this event. Please reach out if you’re looking for suggestions.

Insurance: While safety is our top concern, it is nice to have coverage for your vehicle should an issue arise. In some cases normal insurance may not cover an accident that occurred on track, but call and check. If you would like the extra layer of insurance, then we reccomend researching what policy and coverage you would like to have for your track day. If you have specific questions regarding insurance, reach out! We’re happy to help.
